For two weeks we have been doing art with Whaea Rose about korus, birds and clouds.
We made koru with
whaea Rose by cutting out foam of koru's and stamping them on a piece of paper.
My koru represents tonga; Maori and New Zealand.
I really like the birds flying though the air on my koru art.
Here is a picture of my art.
I am a Year 3-4 student in Team Awa at Ohaeawai School in Northland, New Zealand. My teachers are Mrs Craig and Mrs Clarke.

EQUIPMENT
AND MATERIALS:
|
CD , balloon and a bottle cap.
|
PROCEDURE:
|
Step 1:First we used a hot glue gun to glue the bottle cap on the CD.
Step 2:Next we got a balloon and blew up the balloon until it was fully inflated. Also we twisted the end of the balloon so the air doesn’t come out.
Step 3:We stretch the balloon to put an end on the bottle cap.
Step 4:We opened the cap and placed the CD on the table.
Step 5:Finally we untwist the balloon and let it go.
| |
OBSERVATIONS/RESULTS:
|
I saw the balloon hovercraft move around on the table.

CONCLUSION:
|
The air from the balloon creates a cushion of moving air between the disc and the CD and reduces the friction across the surface.

Bridge Building
We have been learning about forces and how they help shape the sort of bridges that we build.
We learned that there are three main types of bridge design; beam, truss and suspension. Using this knowledge we designed and built our own bridges.
Miss Fletcher set the challenge that our bridges had to be 30 cm long and strong enough to hold an object.

Speech
For the last two weeks we have been working on writing speeches.
My topic was families
We had to present them in front of our class.
I think I did an awesome job and I got into the finals.
Here is my speech.
Have you ever thought about why families are so important? Well I have. Families are people that live with you and are also people who are related to you. Imagine what life would be like if you didn’t have any family. I believe families are important because they support you, take care of you and they always make you super happy.
Firstly families are important because they help you. They help you if you’re being bullied. First they ask you, ‘What is the matter?’ and then they help you work out how to solve the problem. Also they help you with your homework by reading with you and signing your work.
Secondly families are important because they will always keep you safe. They take me to school safely, they keep me close to them when we are outside , they keep me away from dangerous things. They also take me outside if the fire alarm rings.
Finally families are so important because they give you a lot of aroha. They always hug you, put you in your blanket when your cold and also turn off the lights at night time. Sometimes they take you to fun places like KMart and McDonalds and also give you treats.
And that is why families are important because they give us aroha, keep us safe and always help you. My family are important because they make me yummy food and give me lots of cuddles.
Moon Rover Lander
Title: Moon Rover Lander Label: Science
For science we made a Moon rover lander using only a paper cup, paper, cellotape and straws. We were given the task of making our Moon rover land softly onto our Moon landscape so that our marsh-mellow astronauts did not fly out.
The materials I used for my Moon rover is cellotape , paper cup and paper.
What I like best about my Moon rover is it was taped up good and that it landed.
What I needed to modify on my Moon lander rover was I had to fix the paper up.
One thing I learned about landing on the Moon was you always have to wear a space suit.
Here is a video/picture of my Moon rover landing on our school’s Moon surface. I hope you like it!
